Homemade programming connector

Projects /  Test Equipment

Press fit connectorI made a press fit SWD connector for my VGA Terminal project. This allows me to make a temporary debug connection for development without having to desolder the connector afterwards.

I bent the 0.025" pins from a header into a bow shape and solder them onto a perfboard with plated holes. The bow shaped pins makes connection to the walls of the plated through holes for the headers.
With the press fit header.

Card edge connector

This is for homemade PCB without the benefit of plate through holes.  I cut a piece off the old ISA connector with my Dremel tool and cutting disc.

After a bit of filing, clean up, and replacing the PCb with a perf, I got this.  I solder in a male header.

I cut a blank PCB, wrap it around with some tape and inserted it in the connector.

I just want the connector only go far enough to make contact with programming pads on the PCB.
